Saw the Manorama news ‘Puthiya Padam’ yesterday by chance, got some more insights into Malarvadi, increasing the suspense. Was excited to hear that the movie brings back the ‘friendship’ Nostalgia unknowingly, which would be great to watch.
Hope you have started your ‘singing’ practices. The admirers of ‘Vineeth the Singer’ have waited patiently for a year for him to complete his dream project of directing a movie.

Honest opinion, I liked this song, picturisation and lyrics and the song overall. But ManyaMahajanagale, I liked because you conceived it:) That is the difference. Congratulations for this one!
If you read all your you tube comments, you might have understood one thing, some people felt that all songs are sung by you, which was a little boring to hear(not because they don’t like your voice, but they want some change). I also felt the same.
But what I felt about the picturisation is when ppl are coming in a bus after the marriage, friends wearing kurta was something odd to watch. You understood what I meant. Alse few more close up shots would have been better.
An idea for you(free of charge:)), may be you should think of coming up with some musicals. I just watched Gautam Menon movie and even though there is not much substance, I liked the pictursiation and the songs all over. May be you can give something like that as your next hit! You can definitely do that since you have done Coffee at M G Rd. Think about it:)
Don’t know when I will watch your movie. My offer of paying you wth paypal still stands povided you can send a copy of it(Noone I know would want to watch malayalam movies:)) or stream line it.

hi DS.. this was not intented.. one song was supposed to be sung by a famous play back singer. we fixed timings with him, came to chennai and waited for him for two hours, but the guy didn’t turn up. that’s y i sang that song. another song, we made another singer try but didn’t work out as we wanted it. so i had to take that up as well.. shaan and i actually wanted to experiment more voices in our film, but didn’t work out completely for obvious reasons. but our re recording has almost 6 to 7 other singers. if u r watching the film again, u ll find out. next film, hopefully we ‘ ll ve a lot of new voices.
and about a musical film… i ll give it a thought.. not now.. after 2 years 🙂

But still overall the movie is good..
ha ha.. binu.. even my brain started to roll in the middle. but nolan’s films were always like that.. be it MEMENTO, FOLLOWING… but BATMAN RETURNS was much simpler compared to others. anyways, try watching a dvd when it comes out.. u might enjoy it better..

I have read conflicting reviews on WEB, print media & other sources. Can’t validate them all but the majority seems to agree that overall it is a good film. Apart from the beginner’s blue, it is a well constructed film. Kudos to you.

One review which I agree completely is ALBUM style lyrics have somewhat spoiled the mood of the story. Don’t know about the story but I thought from the beginning that Album & film has totally different styles and you should not mix it. Next venture, please take this criticism in a opsitive way and work on it.

hope you heard the malayalam proverb ” kakkayku thankunhu ponkunhu” ther’s a chance for your film to become a big flop also, I am a person who likes to see only good films from theatre(good film= films I love). I went to see the MAC on the second day only becos the confidence in vineeth, becos we know him from interviews he is a very simple person also felt he had a pesonality same as his father. he’s so cool. yes the film has some negatives But I was fully satisfied and I hope the malayalm industry will become younger soon. The newcomers(actors) also did a superb job. according to me the best scene was the dialogue by purushu before their first music concert. Sorry I slipped little from the subject. Mithun, You must be a good person first to become any thing good else in the world (as I believe). You need to know the people’s mind but you must make film for your satisfaction not compete with any other. your dialogues to vineeth was very “nostalgic” for me it pulled back me to my primary school life where we children used to challenge each other something like this. In your dialogues I can only see Immaturity,ego,selfishness like things not a single drop of a filmlover. I hope in future you’ll keep my advices in your mind(If you want, you can ask me more, I just love to give advices…… free) to bacome a good filmmaker

I think you got the point. A realistic movie, is what we need badly in malayalam cinema vineethetta, ee “swapnangal vilkkunna” slap-stick, romantic- comedies kandu maduthittanu…A movie which is specific in truth, realistic, a brave-movie which is what we need. Like what John Cassavates did in “A woman under the influence”, a sort of cruel-realism which makes a lump down the throat of the viewers after watching. No-one will expect that much, but why can’t you just make a try..”you are young and life is long” as sung by “pink floyd”, why can’t you try for a change..I don’t mean the snail-paced art-house stuffs…but a brave-one which paves a different way for malayalam cinema…because you got “fund”, support and everything…hope you will…

for the first time u r sending me a comment in a much civilised way that i really felt like replying back.. i saw “a woman under the influence” a few years back. if i am not mistaken, its a movie from the 70’s right? if its the same, then i really enjoyed it back then.
personally i like doing soft, feel good films. so if i am directing a movie, it ll be of this kind only.
but we really need realistic films in malayalam cinema. infact i ve certain plans in mind and if it works out, i might be able to do my share of attempts. of course its big risk, but with proper planning and paper work, we might be able to do different films here.
i know u had this thing about me that i had a cake walk into the industry. things are not that simple brother. i do my share of hard work. having a father or uncle in the industry doesn’t make it easier. i ve had my days of depression, creative block, revival, and now.. the result.. trust me, nothing is easy in here..

I saw film at TVM NEW theatre today morning.
Status – Balcony – Full
Ist class – only less than 50%.
I came to see the film with much expectation,& expected an out & out entertainer. But, truly Malarvadi is not merely an entertainer, but it has all the contents of good cinema.
After seeing the film,I have decided to call all my ‘forgotten'(of school & college) friends. I have already called 9 before writing this. They were also suprised to see my call after many years. THANKS VINEETH FOR GIVING ME A MESSAGE THROUGH THIS FILM…………..THE MESSAGE OF LOVE & FRIENDSHIP.
About the film – THe film has simple storyline…..but you directed it wisely. I am angry with you for not showing “LAVAN KASHMALAN”. ‘Purushu’, ‘Kuttu’ & the marrying girl(Changayi song)(I liked her so much) were excellent & acted as experienced ones.All others were also good.
Salim Kumar’s introduction BGM was excellent.
I forgot to say one thing…….PRAKASH will surely become a good star…..he has all the capability…..but he has to choose the films wisely…..

I wanted some expert advice on this… I guess, when u started ur career as a singer, I felt u had difficulties reaching high notes while singing. eg: songs like Karale ( to be precise.. maadi vilichal kootinu varumo nee)…then in Ente Khalbile..(nite punchiri paalinullile..)..the songs didn’t sound bad at all ..but felt as if u were straining a bit to reach those notes… But I find that you are comfortable reaching higher notes in your recent songs…(ending of manyamahajanangale, intro to coffee@mg road.. etc etc etc)… If what I felt was right..could you please tell me, how you improved your singing range.. It would be a great help for me… And about Malaravadi… as I’ve told before, Ive tried my best to promote this film, and I’ve made all my friends watch this film..btw I didn’t watch it…I told you..Im now in a country where there are no movie theaters…

My name is Sandeep. I saw the movie Malarvadi. Superb work. All the actors did their role well, eventhough they are new to the screen. Songs are ok. but not upto the expectation.
But over all the movie is an great entertainer and best among all the parallel released malayalam movies. Hats off Vineeth.

I’m Rajesh..not a good movie critic…haven’t watched even a single world classic movie….I’m just a normal viewer with average common sense(I believe so 🙂 ). I watched Malarvady yday in New Theatre, Trivandrum. I would like to say that it was an appreciable attempt from a debut director, but personally I felt, a few more improvements were needed.
You might have noticed that Suraj’s performance in recent films are repetitions of his own roles. Scenes starting with Suraj saying all “Veeravadam” dialogs & running away after getting slapped by the hero/villain are very common in his movies. When the scene starts itself, people can expect how the scene is going to end. It was quite unfortunate to see the same scene in your movie. You are talented enough to make a movie without these most “common” scenes.
But introduction SHOT of Salim Kumar with torch on his head & “Sasi” BGM was funny. But the scene was as expected.
Another thing I noticed in ur movie was the lack of communication between the intimate friends. We are living in a world with lot of advanced communication facilities.It quite surprised me that Santhosh Damodaran didnt contact any of his friends when he came to know about the cancellation of music program scheduled for Kumarettan’s bday. I think within a group of close friends, this communication gap was little bit unbelievable. This gap between them happened to continue in the 2nd half..it was more surprising when nobody contacted him even at the time of one guy’s marriage (provided only Prakashan is very much angry with Santhosh). I understand that, this was necessary for the movement of the story. But this was pretty unbelievable.
And I think Santhosh’s character is dubbed by two persons. I doubt the director himself dubbed for him in majority of 2nd half scenes. Pls correct if I’m wrong.
The new comers did their job well.
I’m purely ignorant about the technical side of cinema. So I dnt know to say abt camera angles or positions. But I like the picturisation of “ManyamahaJanangale…”
& Very very thanks for not including any dialogues with double meaning.

കുട്ടു എന്നാ കഥാപാത്രത്തിന്റെ കോമഡി എല്ലാ സമയത്തും വിജയിക്കുന്നില്ല.. പലതിലുമുകലിലിരുന്നു വെള്ളമടിക്കാന് കുട്ടു ഇനിയും പഠിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.. അവിടെ താങ്കള് കുറച്ചു കൂടി careful ആയി അല്പം കൂടി comedy ചേര്ത്ത dialog പരയിക്കെണ്ടാതയിരുന്നു കാരണം അത് മൂവിയുടെ/ തുടക്കം തന്നെയാണ്… പ്രകാശനും പ്രവീണും പുരുഷുവും കലക്കി… സന്തോഷിനു പാട്ടിനനുസരിച്ച് ഔദിഎന്സില് ഒരു വികാരം ഉണര്ത്താന് പൂര്ണമായും സാധിച്ചില്ല… എന്നാലും തെറ്റില്ലാതെ അഭിനയിപ്പിച്ചു. .. മൊത്തത്തില് You did a good/great job..
Watched the movie…Liked it very much…Made good selection while casting roles..especially new comers…kuttu and purushu was really good…Mada prave….was superb..:).. Salim kumars negotiation with praveen was simply great…Not seen much of such comedies before…In First half “Malarvadis” activities could have been more…
lot of scenes were touching…
Overall ..It was a good entertainer….keep it up…
hope to see more from u in the coming years…Please keep experimenting with new comers ..new themes….youth and all…:)…People like you can save malayalam film industry from the current trend of writing script for superstars….

Hi vineeth saw ur film ystrday..its good but not a great one…we expected a lot more from u n we know u hv got tht caliber..Congrats for your success. U hv done a good job.Next time give more importance to ur casting ,some scenes really felt amateurish and like a drama and music too scored low and I think ur hugely influenced by the film Rock on ,tht shade was clearly visible in the movie. Vineethetta, I saw the movie on Sunday.
I felt it shouting out loud, the spirit of Friendship. Especially through the dialogues and the brilliant performances by the new comers. Prakashan and Purushu are my favourite. Natural acting. movie is really simple with predictable twists. but then in this era wer people try confusing u wid scripts that even the screenwriter would find dificult to xplain, i think movies like malarvadi (dat r predictable to an xtend) are needed. padam realistic aayi thonni.
one thing id like to opine is about the santhosh-prakashan misunderstanding. wat i felt was dat the audience shouldnt have let to knw that santosh was really innocent. even we should hav had that misunderstandng abt him. nearing the climax, wen santosh’s sister comes to prakashan to clear santosh’s part, i think dat was the time even the aidience should realiz d truth rather dan letting dem knw vbeforehand.
climax was predictble. but still i liked it. pinne, santoshinte character cheytha aalkk oru singerinte body language correct aayit cheyyan pattiyilla enn thonnunnu. he cud have done it betr.
one thing i noticd is dat though this is ua directorial debut, thru it u have created a style of your own. the style of symbolically hiding certain things. like for eg, after purushu-geetu mariag, wen prakashan drives them in the jeep, ders just a noise heard by the viewer. noise of some damage hapend to the jeep. wat some directors wud have done is to make prakashan come out of the jeep, have a look around the front portion, and say ‘sshe axil poyi!’. actualy ders no need of such a scene. and u have inteliigently avoided it. and made it crisp.
the same case during the scenes of the pilleru being made to realiz d fact that kumarettan passed away. and in the scene wen kuttu comes wid the poster having no chandrakal in santhosh’s name and he being slapped. actualyy avide adi kodukkanath kaanikkunnilla. its avoided very intelligently replaced by a sound of a slap. i liked dat style. keep it up chettaa.
and one thing i dint like was the video of manyamaha janagae. avare kond steps cheyyikkandaayirunnu. u cud hav shown dem enjoy thru some oder action of theirs. aftr al, dancing isnt just the only form to show joy. steps werent needed. oru opinion mathram aane njn paranje.
The scenes of innoree mazhayil and all were really artistically scripted. oru intelligent writing enn enik thonniyath is during that scene wen kattapuram sasi begs prakashan to let dem do the loading. but sasi’s people wud mistake it for sasi threating prakashan. brilliant.
nedumudi venu was amazing. as always. he absorbed into kumarettan’s character. nice to hear dat the chrcter was inspired by Alfredo of Cinema Paradiso.
at times i flt ua work geting inspired by rock on and dil chahtha hai, both of em my favrites(more weight on dch side!).
vineethetta, as a beginner, i think u hav done an impressively great job. but v need much mre frm u. nalla cinemakal venam namukk.

yesterday i saw malarvadi arts club. excellent !!! first half was excellent. second half not up to the mark.but its really good.. and this is your first attempt na, ee adutha kalathonnum ethreykkum freshness tharunna oru movie malayalathil undayittilla. valare valare nalla attempt. eniyum nalla nalla cinemakal pratheekshikunnu. oru aamir avanam .. not comparing with anybody else, everyone are unique . anyways best wishes.

just came back after watching malarvadi for the 3rd time. awesome . i mean, i am a huge fan of u n shaan (the coffee makers 😛 ). but its not any obsession. am not watching the film coz of u guys, but coz its so good. each time i watch the film, it really makes me happy,sad,excited everything that the scenes demand. i know wat scene mite be coming, but it still touches the heart. shaan’s bgms rocked. really touching. those 5 guys, amazing. especially purushu. divine friendship. and nedumudi’s role.. hes da best !! 🙂 nice package man. great work. the feel of friendship , thats the awesome thing about the film. nice. i mite go back again, to watch it. coz, it makes me happy..or maybe ther r things that the film n my life has in common, watever it be..at the end of it, it really makes me happy.thanks a lot guys.

In TVM its moved to small theatre(sri visakh) for flop tamil films(thillalankidi). Families wont prefer sri visakh as there are no parking space.whats happening!!! most of B class centeres film is removed after 2 weeks. Poor marketing is costing the film. Dileep is not doing his job!!!!!!!!

hi vineeth….we saw “MaLaRvAdI aRtS cLuB” on thursday… emotions touch cheyyunna nalla cinema…orupaadu istapettu….ente pazhaya hostel roommates 4 per koodiyaanu padathinu poyathu…out of them two came from Ruwais to sharjah after 4-5 hours journey,since the film was released only here in sharjah..it was an awesome experience..after film we talked a lot about our life in college and hostel..Thanks for giving such a nice film to remember our good old days…we wish our,your, and all others ‘friend-ship’ never sink…once again thanks for such a good movie..

If you’re really taking a break from movie making, could you and Shaan think of a live concert with remixed old malayalam hits (like that one in MAC), some good rock stuff, of course new songs etc.? May be in a big stadium in Kochi? I think at least all the youth from Kerala will be there!
I think of something like what Sonu Nigam does. His concert that I experienced in Germany was the best I’ve ever seen in the matter of interaction with the audience. I think you and your friends have that “something” that really needed for a live concert.

like many of your fans, I too watched movie on its first day itself. And I was fortunate enough to see Prakashan(I don’t his real name) in the theater. I simply loved the movie even though the climax was much predictable. Loved the background scores.
I did not like the movie name, well, I am sorry to say that, I had least plan to watch the movie. Me and my friends had plan to watch another movie, but then suddenly whole plan changed and we decided for malarvadi. I must say we loved the movie from very beginning.
A happy movie which spread smiles on all the audience. I have another reason to tell u that this is a happy movie. I went to theater with 5 of my friends. Next to our seat was a physically challenged person along with his brother(His brother must be in his late 50s). The elder brother carried him through the stairs, made him sit comfortable. Both of them enjoyed the movie so much that, I could see a broad smile in their face after the movie. If you had seen it you must be filled in with the warmth of their smile.
Congratulation for making such a good movie.. 🙂
One more thing 🙂 There were many scenes making fun of girls.. Are you a male chevonist?

In APSARA for Morning show there was enough people ( But not house full) ..
The sentimental sequences you created were really touching .
Below things are my humble suggestions .
As a Script writer you are really good . The screen play is strong enough .. ( 8/10)
As a director I feel you need improve allot … (5/10)
The title crane shot was good.
But there were lots of unnecessary crane Shots . For example The party leader’s introduction shot ( He was talking in mobile phone and walking near a banyan tree. The camera was hanging, don’t know for what reason)
Changayi song was good ..
I think in song Visualization you should have been concentrated more, since now a days people first see the song.
As lyric writer i liked Nerin Vazhi than. Was perfect fit for the situation . (7/10)
About Shan’s Music ..
Average ( 6/10 ) .. Songs Could have been better ..
I know he is trained more in Western .., But your situations was in a need of bgm’s based on some karnatic raagas like mohanam , madhyamavathy etc )
About Casting .. (6/10)
Good …
Jagathy Sreekumar was not required for that role … He has done a good job. But common people expect more from jagathy …
Suraj and salim Kumar was ok ( I know these casting only from the Marketing perspective)

Hi it’s a good news
I movie was good but i feel you failed to convince the viewers (at least me) that thick friends like them will fail to contact each other for that long time when every body are just a ring away especially the singer(forgot his name),when such an importent show is said to be postponed by his friends which is to be performed for a father like figure.one more thing is the climax which is predictable.
but totally movie got some freshness and relief that ‘ hey we still have some new people coming with good movies ‘ rather then ‘ hero oriented ‘TAMILALAM ‘ movies.
please dont make movies with super stars please bring more youngsters who can act. And please…please dont take 2 year gap betwen movies please make it atleast one year. You know there is not much people around to make good movies.Oldies like ‘sibi malayil ‘ lost their touch (i watched ‘apoorva ragangal and i some how managed to tolerate that crap till the end ).new comers even if some are talented lack support and lack guts to say no to the big daddy’s of cinema when they interfere in their work. I still hope some are establishing themselves so that later they can act,make, and produce good movies.
Finally sorry for all non stop non-sense i was frustrated loosing time, money and effort, watching BullS**t movies. BEST OF LUCK

i am a guy having hell lot of problems in my life.. crisis after crisis..thats what my life is all about. it really is painful to stand awake coz of disturbing and scary thoughts, and also to go to sleep, coz of horrifying nightmares.. theres no room for happiness in my life.
but u know wat..how i go to sleep.. plugging in my ipod to my ears..n playing the songs of coffee at mgroad. and sometimes malarvadi. wen i feel really down, i go n watch malarvadi arts club..i feel happy..relieved..and energetized. i donno.. i get inspiration to live after watching that movie.. especially from the dialogue.. “oru pradisanthi varumbozhaanu manushyan kazhivu theliykkande..” this dialogue from the genius nedumudi venu..keeps ringing my ears..

Parts of songs and scenes of Malarvadi Arts Club came up on one of the TV channels the other day. The dialogue delivery of one or two youngsters were lacking in naturality to some extent. I did not like one song as well as its picturisation. It too did not look natural. Maybe I was wrong in having expected something of a Sathyan Anthikkadu-film or a Sreenivasan-film. My biggest disappointment came when you did not appear in the telecast parts. Had you not acted in the film? I had thought you had. My wife and I, both, had loved you in ‘Makante Achchan’, and had desired to see more of you on the screen.
