an episode from my life

Heyyy, I am back.. Sorry for not replying to ur comments on time. This “time” thing has got too stingy with me [or should I say, I am demanding more these days] 🙂  Its like 24 hours is not enough. But I am loving this kind of busy work life, as this had been my dream always.

Right now, despite the fact that I am sleepy and I ve to catch an early morning flight from chennai to cochin, I feel like writing about something – something which happened today. Something that I found too interesting and worth sharing.

I was narrating my script to my cousin brother and a very close friend today at home. Even my brother dhyan was there, as usual, criticizing every bit of my work. After I finished narrating the first 13 scenes, he chucked all of us out coz “he had to study for his exams.” Dhyan studying for exams, that’s a rare happening!!!

Having sent out, three of us had to find a place. We went to “amethyst”. This is one of my favorite joints in chennai. You can sip a coffee and sit the whole day, and they wouldn’t tell u to get out. They are great people. Long live amethyst!!

When I started my narration there, that’s when this interesting thing happened. One of my favorite directors of tamil cinema, Mr.Gautham Menon walks in and sits at the table right next to mine. I ve been a great admirer of “kaakka kaakka”, therefore an admirer of Gautham too. Though I am not a big fan of his later films, I still ve great respect for him for “kaakka kaakka”

His entry into amethyst definitely disturbed my focus on narration a bit. But very soon I started loving this game of life. On one side was the master, discussing about his film which is going to release [vinnaithaandi varuvaayaa]. On the other side was me, discussing about my film which is going to start.  He must be worried about his film, as I am worried about mine. The master was just two feet away from the beginner, both sharing the same passion – CINEMA!!

I didn’t go and meet him. I felt it ll be like breaking into his privacy. The actual fun was in “not meeting him” and remaining as an admirer- an admirer perhaps he would never know!!

Strange things happen in life. And that’s why we say, life is great!!

hey cheta….thats really interesting…Gautham Menon..is a great director..as u said,…Khakka Khakka…wat a muvi dat was…i became a surya fan after that movie..But i didnt like his Varanam Aayiram dat much as i felt it dragging in many plays…Vettayadu Villayadu was something similar to Khakka Khakka…And yea sure he must be tensed as u r b4 his release of VTV…To be frank i didnt like the great Rahmans music in it that much…As i am a die hard fan as rahman i am disappointed that rahman is not composing songs as he did in his early days…Roja to Kandukondein Kandu kondein…after that i always felt he is moving too much to western style…Anyway lets get back to our movie…Malarwadi…Chetaa…must tell you …as u r getting this much close with us and giving all the details…we feel malarwadi as our movie…whenever u are telling abt it..i try to bring that image to mind…i think it will be same with others too…One day you will go to amethyst for the discussion of your biggest project in life after so many hits movies…Then i il be thr near your table discussing about my small movie…But i will surely come and talk to you…I wnt affect ur privacy … i knw u wnt feel dat too…he he…[chumma oru jaadakke parayallo…]
    Happy journey cheta…Explore Cochin…;)

heyy devan, i actually kind of like the songs in vinnaithaandi varuvaayaa.. definitely rahman’s music has changed. he s bringing a lot of new experiments into film music when so many others are still sticking on to the same old style of composing and arranging. may be rahman’s good old melodies are missing these days. may be rahman has been moving away from common man. but still, he has never stopped giving us new sounds, new arrangements, new experiences!! thats what rahman has always been. the king of novelty!! let him explore more and more.. i am sure he ll make us listen to some beautiful melodies every now and then.

      • February 22, 2010 at 2:08 am

Yes chetaa…Even i am waiting for more melodies from him…May be his change must be keeping my mind away from enjoying his new songs…and chetaa…I forgot to ask you…are u doing any role in MAC…[Malarwadi Arts Club] Mac Mac.. 😀 We want to see u in a role cheta…please u must make a special appearance… :)if its not there… 😀

I wud agree to it. Like his previous movies, songs might not seem that impressive before the release. But am pretty sure that Omanapenne is gonna rock the charts once the movie is released. Sources say that this will be Gautham’s best movie made. He is even plannin for a double climax.

Proud to b an ardent fan of Gautham,..

@Ravanan,,,,…..hey dude…as somebody said its a slow poison..you need to listen to it a few no of times then you will become an addict, the more you listen to it the more you ll like it…Initially i thght the same way as you…
I saw VTV…the movie is kind of realistic atleast in some portions…songs and picturisations are simply awesome,it has 30-40 minutes of kerala…

@Vineeth…My prayers that u also become successfull like u r fav director….& like ravanan said i ll come and talk to u if i get a chance ever….

Vineeth sir, even I have had small experiances like this with non-famous people but still brilliant people. Lol! And the best part of this experiance is to see them in work just to see them in their element and see them do, as you said about music, magic! I love watching them more than just meeting them and breaking their magical work…. let the magic live on =)

Hope all izz well with you,
    Meera Mol

the movie is awesome,. Still havn’t got out of the hang over,. The songs are awesome
and the cinematography is also excellent. The color tones reminded me of Pazhassi raja,. a.Who wouldn’t c themselves in place of SImbu n trisha,. Its a movie to treasure,. watch it Vineeth,.

Heard that Gautham Menon is remaking Khakha Khakha in Hindi with John Abraham in the lead role. It would be a great hit, though it wouldn’t be as good as Malarvadi Arts Club 😉

    All the best, Vineeth
